Tummonds State Nature Preserve

Portage County, Ohio

Our take written by Nature Awed

Tummonds protects 1.5 miles of river corridor on the Upper Cuyahoga State Scenic River in Portage County, dedicated in memory of conservation advocate Charles A. Tummonds.

Beyond the wooded river corridor with its big beech trees, the north part holds a small sphagnum bog, dry kame woods, swamp woods and marsh. There are no visitor facilities, and ODNR says it is reached by the Village of Mantua Glacial Esker Trail or by canoe.
